Six sectors, one stratigraphy problem

Different buildings, the same regional geology: urban fill over soft organics over dense glacial soils. Here is how that plays out by project type.

Sector 01

Industrial & logistics

Distribution centers, cold storage, truck courts and trailer yards along the Doremus, Delancy and Dorema corridors. Heavy floor loads over compressible fill is our most frequent problem to solve.

  • Slab-on-grade subgrade criteria
  • Pile vs. mat cost comparison
  • Trailer court pavement sections

Sector 02

Multifamily & mixed-use

Four- to eight-story residential over ground-floor retail in Newark, Harrison, Jersey City and Bayonne, where adjacent party walls narrow the tolerance for movement.

  • Underpinning and support-of-excavation input
  • Consolidation settlement estimates
  • Neighbor protection monitoring

Sector 03

Public & municipal

Pump stations, schools, firehouses, parks and roadway reconstruction bid through public procurement, with the documentation trail those contracts require.

  • Prevailing-wage compliant field staffing
  • Bid-package geotechnical data reports
  • Public agency submission formats

Sector 04

Port, rail & heavy civil

Bulkheads, container yards, rail spurs and crane runways where working loads are extreme and downtime is measured in thousands per hour.

  • Bulkhead and quay wall stability
  • Deep dynamic compaction review
  • Crane pad and runway bearing checks

Sector 05

Energy & utility

Substation pads, solar racking, transmission structures and utility trenching, including thermal resistivity and corrosivity screening.

  • Foundation uplift and lateral capacity
  • Thermal resistivity testing
  • Backfill and bedding specification

Sector 06

Private & residential

Additions, pool structures, retaining walls, driveway failures and homeowner settlement concerns handled at a scale that fits a residential budget.

  • Two-boring screening programs
  • Retaining wall and slope review
  • Settlement cause investigation
